Cellophane Closeouts

Cellophane Sheets Closeouts

Our cellophane sheet closeouts are where discontinued designs and surplus inventory go before leaving our catalog for good. Everything on this page is priced well below our standard wholesale rates, and once a design sells out it is not coming back.

These are the same food-safe sheets we manufacture for our regular wholesale line, suited to gift baskets, floral arrangements, bakery packaging, and retail gift wrapping. The only difference is the reason they are here: retired seasonal patterns, discontinued colors, or overstock from larger production runs. The quality is unchanged and the discount is significant.

Closeout sheets follow our usual wholesale structure. Larger sizes ship in increments of 100 sheets, smaller sizes in increments of 1,000, with the base pack quantity shown in each title. Tiered pricing still applies on top of the closeout discount.

Quantities are limited to what remains in stock, and restocks are not planned. Contact our sales team for remaining quantities or bulk orders.

How durable are cellophane rolls – will they resist tearing or punctures?

Clear cellophane rolls are moderately durable, but they’re not as tough as plastic films. Here’s a breakdown of their strengths and limitations:

✅ What Cellophane Is Good At:

  • Tear resistance: Cellophane has some resistance to tearing, especially across its grain (width-wise), but it can tear more easily along the length.
  • Puncture resistance: It’s fairly resistant to light punctures, such as light pressure from corners or product edges, but not designed for heavy-duty protection.
  • Tensile strength: It has good strength for wrapping, pulling, or twisting, especially for gift baskets or product packaging.

⚠️ Where Cellophane Can Fall Short:

Issue Notes
Tearing under stress Once torn, cellophane tends to rip easily, similar to paper.
Sharp objects It can be punctured by corners, edges, or stiff stems (like rose thorns or product corners).
Humidity or moisture Cellophane can weaken slightly when exposed to high humidity or moisture (especially uncoated types).

Clear cellophane is durable enough for most decorative and retail packaging uses, especially when visual appeal matters. It’s not ideal for rough handling or sharp objects, but for gifts, flowers, baked goods, or retail products, it performs well — with the added benefit of being biodegradable.

Do cellophane rolls protect contents from moisture and air exposure?

Clear cellophane rolls offer moderate protection from moisture and air exposure — but not as much as synthetic plastic films like polyethylene or polypropylene.

Here’s what to know:

💧 Moisture Protection

  • Uncoated cellophane is naturally breathable, meaning it allows some moisture vapor to pass through.
    • ✅ Good for wrapped baked goods or products that need to “breathe.”
    • ❌ Not ideal for items that need airtight sealing or total moisture barrier.
  • Coated cellophane (e.g., with nitrocellulose, PVDC, or acrylic) offers much better moisture resistance.
    • Great for protecting against humidity, grease, and minor spills.
    • Still not fully waterproof, but much closer to plastic wrap performance.

🌬️ Air/Oxygen Protection

  • Moderate air barrier — cellophane reduces oxygen flow but does not block it completely.
  • Sufficient for:
    • Short-term freshness.
    • Non-perishable items.
Are your clear cello rolls safe for wrapping food items or gift baskets?

Yes, all our cello rolls are ideal for food items or gift baskets.

How do I seal or secure items wrapped with a cellophane roll?

You can seal or secure items wrapped with a cellophane roll using several practical methods, depending on the look you want and the type of contents you’re wrapping (gift, food, retail, etc.).

🎁 1. Twist Ties or Ribbons (Great for Gifts & Baskets)

  • How it works: Gather the top or ends of the wrap and tie tightly with a ribbon, string, or twist tie.
  • Best for: Gift baskets, party favors, flowers, candles.

Pro tip: Curling ribbon adds a decorative touch. Use twist ties first for security, then cover with ribbon.

🔖 2. Clear Adhesive Tape (Simple & Invisible)

  • How it works: Fold or overlap the edges and secure with transparent tape.
  • Best for: Clean-looking food packages, small gifts, retail display items.
  • Pro tip: Use double-sided tape for a neater appearance, especially on visible surfaces.

🔥 3. Heat Sealing (when using heat sealable cellophane or cello)

  • How it works: Use a heat sealer to create a tight, tamper-evident seal along the open edge.
  • Best for: Candy, cookies, dried foods, soap, cosmetics.
  • Pro tip: Not all cellophane is heat-sealable — only coated or synthetic versions are.

📦 4. Stapling (Functional but Visible)

  • How it works: Fold the edge and use a stapler to hold it closed.
  • Best for: Bulk or quick packaging in informal settings.
  • Pro tip: Hide staples with a ribbon or label to make it look more polished.

🪢 5. String or Twine (Rustic or Natural Look)

  • How it works: Tie the gathered top like you would with ribbon, but using twine or jute.
  • Best for: Handmade, rustic packaging (baked goods, eco-friendly products).
  • Pro tip: Pair with kraft tags for branding or labeling.
